Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My role is to guide, support, and anchor you through the waves—toward greater clarity, resilience, and self-trust.
Michelle Newton, MA, LMFT, PMH-C
Perinatal, Couples & Reproductive Mental Health Therapist
Michelle is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in supporting individuals and couples through perinatal, reproductive, and relationship transitions. Her work is grounded in the belief that therapy should feel both deeply supportive and genuinely human, especially during seasons that can feel overwhelming, uncertain, or isolating.
With over a decade of experience across reproductive medicine, community mental health, and outpatient settings, Michelle brings both clinical depth and real-world insight to her work. Prior to becoming a therapist, she worked extensively in reproductive healthcare, coordinating care for individuals and couples navigating fertility treatment. This experience continues to inform her nuanced understanding of infertility, pregnancy, and postpartum experiences.
Michelle works primarily with adults and couples navigating life transitions, anxiety, and the emotional complexities of trying to conceive, pregnancy, and postpartum. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals and partners through infertility and reproductive challenges, helping them feel more grounded, connected, and supported in the process.
Her approach is collaborative, structured, and thoughtfully tailored. She draws from evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, EFT, and Gottman Method. She balances insight-oriented work with practical skill-building, helping clients strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Michelle earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in couples work, graduating with distinction. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. Her academic training reflects a strong foundation in relational dynamics, identity development, and systems-based care.
She is certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International and is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the New Jersey Association of Marriage & Family Therapy. Her work reflects a deep commitment to ongoing learning, clinical excellence, and meaningful, connected care.
My style.
Compassionate care with clinical precision
I bring my clinical expertise, love of learning, and authenticity into the room with me every time. I don’t believe in therapists as blank slates. I believe in showing up with integrity, professionalism, and a healthy dose of humanity through humor, quick wit, and candor.
My special interests include perinatal and postpartum mental health, trauma recovery, women’s mental health, emerging adulthood, and navigating grief and bereavement.
Clients describe me as warm, authentic, grounded, and as having a good sense of humor. I see my role not as an expert on your life, but as a guide who walks alongside you—helping you explore what’s possible, build self-trust, and move toward the life you want.
